Adhesives by application
Contact adhesive for mattresses, foam and upholstery
A contact adhesive is an adhesive spread on both faces that bonds as soon as they meet. Mattress and upholstery makers use it to bond foam to foam and fabric to foam, usually by spraying. ADVANCE AP 777 is our SBS synthetic-rubber (SR) contact adhesive for that work: benzene-free, applied by spray or brush, and tailored to the customer's spray gun.
What matters
How does contact bonding work?
A contact adhesive goes on both surfaces. Once the solvent has flashed off and the film is dry to the touch, the two faces are pressed together and bond at once. AP 777 dries in 25 ± 5 seconds, and the bond reaches its optimum strength in 24 hours.
Can AP 777 be sprayed?
Mattress and upholstery makers usually spray their adhesive. AP 777 is applied by spray or brush, and we tailor it to the customer's spray gun.
How strong is the bond?
Foam-to-foam and fabric-to-foam joints must hold through handling and use. AP 777 gives a bond strength of 35 kg per 6.25 cm², resists moisture and weather, and serves from −40 to 60 °C.
How should AP 777 be handled?
AP 777 is benzene-free and low in VOCs, but like every solvent adhesive it is highly flammable. A non-flammable version is available on request.
