Technical guides from our laboratory
Notes from our laboratory for buyers and coating-line engineers, built on the methods and values in our own datasheets.
About the guides
What do our technical guides cover?

Advance Adhesives’s technical guides are notes from our laboratory for buyers and coating-line engineers who are choosing a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA). The two guides answer 19 questions, each linked below. The first explains how we test 180° peel adhesion, loop tack, rolling-ball tack and shear according to PSTC methods, with the adhesive coated on 1 mil (25 µm) PET at 25 ± 2 gsm, and how to read the values on our datasheets. The second compares our three kinds of PSA, solvent acrylic, solvent rubber and water-based acrylic, with the ADVANCE AP 777 contact adhesive, and explains one-pack and two-pack grades, non-flammable versions and storage. Every value in the guides comes from our own datasheets and catalogue. To find a grade for your product, start from the application pages or the product finder, and ask our technical team about anything the guides leave open.

- What does rolling-ball tack measure?
- What does shear (holding power) measure?
- What does solids content tell you?
- How is viscosity measured?
- How do the numbers work together?
